A field of forty one 18ers participated in the annual Halloween Bash on October 24. Members had festive hats, wore face paint and many had orange and black outfits.
The game was two best net balls with an orange ball rotating among the group. The person with the orange ball counted as one of the best balls. A lost orange ball disqualified the team. This year only one group lost their orange ball.
Denise Pratt, Captain, welcomed the group and announced the new members for the Board: Theresa Kim Captain, Janice Davis Co-Captain, Teddi Swanson Treasurer, Robin Moreau Secretary. The members voted and approved the new board. Toni Snyder, Membership chairperson reminded members that 2020 membership fees are due by November 30. Marian Handy, Treasurer reported that all groups stayed in budget for the year. Claudia Terry, Handicap Chair, advised that the 2020 handicapping system will be adjusted on a daily basis and Terry asked members to post the correct date for their score. The new handicapping system will include an algorithm that accounts for adverse weather and course conditions. Robin Moreau, East Bay Team Play (EBTP) Captain, introduced the new EBTP co chairs, Janice Davis and Daisy Soo Hoo. Janice Davis advised that 2020 team play schedule will be posted soon and a new team shirt will be selected. Sign up sheets will be available at the February 2020 Launch Party.
Golf pro Wayne Weckerlin judged the various festive hats and selected the following: Pat Taylor first place, Robin Moreau second place and Maryann Higgins third place.
The following are results for the orange ball bash: First flight winners: first place Olivia Hsueh, Soonee Kim 132 (blind draw was used); second place Joyce McCann, Janice Davis, Teddi Swanson, Garnett Shelly 132 (tie was broken on back nine). Second flight winners: first place Karin Romak, Pat Deisem, Gail Ramirez, Del Poirier 137, second place Daisy Soo Hoo, Joan Baggett, Robin Moreau, Bari Mantel 138.
A chip-in was made by Jean Carroll on hole number one and Shin Kim on hole number eighteen. Birdies were made by Jean Carroll on hole number one and Olivia Hsueh on hoe thirteen.
The 18ers thank Brent for organizing the groups, scorecards and tabulation and a special thanks to Del Poirier and Teddi Swanson for organizing the event.
Following are tournaments for the balance of the season: Oct 31 Charm Playoff and Low Net, Nov. 7 Scramble, Nov. 14 Turkey Shoot, Nov. 21 is Shot Gun Casual Play. The course will be open to all players on Thursday starting on Nov. 28.
