On April 6th East Bay Team Play began as well as the 18ers Charm and Eclectic Tournament season with no weather interruptions.
East Bay Team Play which is made up of 14 East Bay Private Golf Clubs who play a friendly four-ball match play competition over the course of the season. During the season each club enters three teams of two players for each match. (A B C – based on indexes 0-36). Thursday’s first match was held at Sequoyah Country club in Oakland. The course was a tough track with a slope rating of 133 compared to Rossmoor 124 slope. Rossmoor had 27 Gross points and 26.5 net points with Crow Canyon the game competitor having 27 gross points and 27.6 net points. Well done team! This year Daisy Soo Hoo is Captain with Karla Witte Co-Captain. 18ers who are interested in participating in EBTP are encouraged to contact either Daisy or Karla.
18ers played in their first official tournament of the season on Thursday, April 6th. This tournament was the first of six Eclectic and Charm Day tournaments. The Eclectic tournament is where the members try to improve their score for each of the 18 holes over the course of the season and the Charm winner is the one low net score of the game that day.
The first Charm Day winner of 2023 was Jane Lee. Lee will be in a playoff of the monthly winners at the end of the season to determine the overall Charm Day winner. Congratulations to Jane Lee.
The first round of the Eclectic paid out three low net winners and one low gross winner for each of the 4 flights. The low gross winners were: Sue Yoon 1st flight, Agnes Shinn 2nd flight, Mirna Wong 3rd flight and Donna Friend 4th flight. There were three low net winners for each of the flights. The first flight winner was Joyce McCann and 2nd Jun Chao, and 3rd Jayoung Lee. Second Flight winners were 1st Lynda Pritchett, 2nd Joan Baggett and 3rd Mary Kiefer. Third Flight winner was Jane Lee with 2nd Soonee Kim and 3rd Jean Wright. Fourth Flight winner was Sarah Ko with 2nd Joanne Brennan and 3rd Betty Cuniberti.
Birdies were made by Jayoung Lee on 15, Lee Shaffer on 13, Linda Ingalls on 16 and Joyce McCann on 4 and 16. Chip-ins were made by Jacky Dunn on 13, Joyce McCann on 6 and Lynda Pritchett on 88.
