RMGC Hosts Member Appreciation Tournament

The RMGC Board wants to say “thank you” to the entire RMGC membership for their support throughout the last few years by financially supporting a unique golf tournament on Wednesday,

May 17 on both the Stanley Dollar and Creekside golf courses. Entry fee and lunch will be paid for by the RMGC as well as funding the pro shop credits. Green fees and cart charges are the responsibility of the member.

The golf tournament will be called “The Wanna Make It” with a link to the PGA Championship which is being held May 17 to 21. The winner of the PGA Champion is awarded the Wanamaker Trophy. This will be the second major of the year for both the RMGC and the PGA tour.

The format will be a 2 person team playing under the Chapman system.  In this format, both players play their tee ball. For the second stroke, each player hits the other partners ball. After the second shot, one ball is selected and played on an alternate shot basis until the ball is holed out. The gross score for each hole is recorded and the net score is determined at the end of play. There is a specific Chapman handicap formula used for this event.

The Wednesday day 1 scores of the RMGC teams will be posted in their assigned flights with leading teams awarded pro shop credits.  To add excitement and more interest, there will be a separate tournament where each teams’ 18 hole net score will be combined and linked to a PGA  players opening round 18 hole score from Thursday.  There is a random assignment of either a world top 10 player or PGA Champion to each team.  The pro’s Thursday score will be added to your teams score to yield the teams total score.  The leading teams will be finalized and paid in pro shop credits.

Lunch with beer and wine will be supplied by the RMGC “cheffy” squad at the picnic grounds on May 17.

Registration details will be sent out via the golf genius system. Looking forward to a HUGE turnout for this tournament, so start to line up your partner.
