With Halloween falling on Thursday, November 31, the ghosts, goblins and witches were out and about for the 18ers game trying to trick them up. Players required a bit of witchcraft and maybe a little luck to score well on the 9 holes out of the 18 that counted. Unbeknownst to the players, winners were based on the low net score on the following holes: 1, 4, 6, 9, 11, 13, 15, 16 and 18. In addition, players showcased their creative skills with winning hat designs for the day’s events. After the round, the 18ers had a delicious lunch catered by Creekside followed by the awards. Then, Toni Snyder, the 18ers current Captain, oversaw Rossmoor Women’s 18 Hole Golf Club Annual Meeting with 54 members in attendance.
At the meeting, MaryJean Kidd gave the Treasurer’s Report, Teddi Swanson gave a Membership update and Karla Witte spoke about East Bay Team Play. Witte thanked participants and reported that the team finished an impressive sixth in net play and ninth in gross out of 14 teams, considering that most teams are made up of much younger members. Soo Hoo, the Handicap Chair, thanked members for diligently posting all of their scores and brief updates were given on Publicity, Tech and Golf Genius as well as the Rules Committee. Joyce McCann noted that next year the 9ers will be allowed to sign up for her rules classes. Snyder gave the updates for Marsha Jennings’ Thursday Golf Report and Robin Moreau’s GRF interface, plus thanked Social Chair Lana Yagle for all of her hard work on events throughout the year. At the end of the meeting, the revised bylaws and the new board members for 2025 were approved including Mirna Wong, Captain, Lee Shaffer, Co-Captain, Andrea Alpine, Treasurer, and Joel Jackson, Secretary. During the open forum, several questions were asked by Olivia Hsueh and Theresa Kim. These questions will be addressed at the next Board Meeting on November 11. All are welcome to attend.
