Posting Accurate Golf Scores
Handicap Tips
Playing under preferred lies. The course or tournament director may adopt a Local Rule for preferred lies (lift, clean and place) if warranted. Scores made while this Local Rule for preferred lies is in effect must be posted for handicap purposes. If a player chooses to adopt preferred lies on their own, their scores should still be posted. However, keep in mind that frequent use of preferred lies can result in an inaccurate, low Handicap Index.
Rossmoor preferred lie. Lift, clean and place within 6 inches in same ‘cut’ of grass.
Recently aerated greens in use. Scores on aerated greens should be posted. Relief from aerated holes is normally allowed under a Local Rule. Place ball at your nearest point of relief. The use of an “automatic two-putt” and ‘gimme’ putts can result in an inaccurate, low Handicap Index.
Caring for the Course
Repair Ball Marks. If you repair your ball mark and one other, you’ll be doing everyone a favor.
Repair Divots. Repairing our divots correctly is an easy way to make a difference. Improperly repaired divots can take months to heal. Sand and seed are available at the first tee of both Rossmoor courses.
Follow Cart Rules. Follow the rules and keep carts on paths as much as possible – it will make a big difference.
