Distinguishing herself for the fourth year in a row as Rossmoor’s top woman golfer, Claudia Terry shot an outstanding 166 for the two-round tournament. The runners up were Sunhi Kim in second and Jayoung Lee in third each with a total score of 176. This year’s tournament was held on August 1 and August 8 and the format was two rounds of golf rather than three which allowed more golfers to participate. The championship score is based on total gross score from the red tees. This event also had a combo flight with women playing a combination of red and gold tees. Okey Ro won the combo flight with Barbara Musante coming in second and Pat McSween in third. Luckily the weather was pleasant on both Thursdays and the competition was stiff.
Birdies and chipins were honored for both tournament days with many players adding to their winnings. Birdies on August 1, included: Joan Binnings and Daisy Soo Hoo on hole 2, Lee Shaffer on hole 3, Sunhi Kim on hole 4, Mirna Wong on hole 6, Joanne Kim on hole 7, Terry on hole 9, Jun Chao, Theresa Kim, Robin Moreau and Lana Yagle on hole 10, and Sherry Endicott on hole 14. On August 8, the following players had birdies, Agnes Shin and Theresa Kim on 2, Binnings and Sunhi Kim on hole 4, Binnings on hole 5, Musante and Agnes Shin on hole 10, and Sunhi Kim on hole 17. On August 1, the following players had chipins, Shaffer on hole 3, Terry and Marsha Jennings on hole 9, Joanne Brennan and Vanida Nalamlieng on 13, and Jennings on hole 15. Afterwards, a celebratory luncheon was held in the Fairway Room. Congratulations to the winners and to all of the participants for making this a successful tournament.
