Ladies’ 18ers Enjoy Golfing at Fiesta Guest Day
Three days in advance of Cinco de Mayo, the 18ers and their guests celebrated with a fiesta. Fifty senoras and senoritas turned out on May 2 for a tournament on the Dollar Ranch Golf Course. Jean Carroll, Gail Ramirez, and Mitzi Weinberg took care of every detail to make the day fun for everyone.
The action began with registration at 7:15 am followed by a continental breakfast at Creekside.
Players then went to their starting holes and teed off at 8:30 am. Teams scored one best net ball on even holes and two best net balls on odd holes. The hungry group found a big Mexican lunch with all the trimmings waiting for them.
Grace NItta’s charming decorations added festivity, as did the beverages. Senor Mark Heptig, El Director de Golf, announced the winners:
First Flight: 1. Pil Choo, Grace Nitta, Yvonne Lee, and Jean Cho (89); 2. Janet Choi, Nancy Park, Sil Jung, and Hannah Kim (91); 3. Jean Carroll, Debbie Keener, Gail Ramirez, Kathleen Nagle (94).
Second Flight: 1.Teddi Swanson, Cindy Miller, Joni Upshaw, and Susan Chipman with a team score of (86); 2. Pat Taylor, Barbara May, Elaine Matsui, Valerie Helenson (93); Rosalie Devlin, Barb De Vincenzie, Sally Jeffries, Velma Magnani.
Closest to the pin awards for members on Holes 2 and 16 both went to Sil Jung; for guests the award for Hole 2 went to Barbara Nilson and for Hole 16 to Cindy Miller.
After a full day of golfing, a satisfying lunch, and much socializing, the happy athletes bid Adios to their friends. At home, perhaps a few of them took a siesta.
