Rossmoor 18er Janice Davis played in the Women’s Golf Association of Northern California (WGANC) Champion of Champions tournament on April 26 and 27 at the Olympic Club in San Francisco and won first place in her flight after the two-day stroke play competition. The Champion of Champions event is open to the previous two years’ WGANC club champions and runners-up, and since Davis was runner-up in the 2015 Stroke Play Club Championship at Rossmoor, she qualified to enter this prestigious event.
Contestants played two days of stroke play on the Olympic Ocean Course using the green and white combo tees which measured 5,570 yards. Five flights were fielded with competitors traveling from dozens of WGANC clubs in Northern California. Davis won the fifth flight by shooting an 88 on the first day in favorable weather conditions, followed by shooting a 94 the next day which featured cold and drizzly San Francisco weather with fog so thick that several holes had less than 100 yards visibility. She had a total two-day gross score of 182 (net 144). Congratulations to Davis who made one of her dreams come true and can now check one more item off her bucket list.
