On April 28, forty-five 18ers competed in the second Eclectic Day and Charm Day. There are 6 Thursday play days designated as Charm Days. All players take their gross score and subtract the current handicap which results in their Net score. The lowest Net score of the field is the Charm winner for that day. Over the course of the year other Charm days produce more Charm Day winners. At the end of the season the six Charm winners have a playoff to determine the overall winner. Joanne Kim, who shot a net 69, was the April Charm Day winner, joins Del Poirer in that elite group. Joanne has been a member of the 18ers for seven years and has been a fierce competitor in East Bay Team Play.
The Eclectic event is as it suggests, the selection of the best of the bunch. Players have, over the course of the golf season, opportunities to better a score on each of the eighteen holes during stipulated rounds. At the end of the season the best 18-hole scores are totaled resulting in the overalll winner. This is a great way to keep a golfer who might be having a terrible round, in the game and to stay ever hopeful that it can always get better.
During play Theresa Kim scored a birdie on hole 10, Grace Nitta had a birdie on hole 10, MaryJean Kidd and one on hole 2, and AiSoon Hong had one on hole 16. Lana Yagle had a chip-in on hole 13 and Sue Yoon had one on hole 8.
