The 18-hole women’s golf club gathered for their annual Holiday party on Thursday, December 14. The ladies met at the Event Center where they greeted each other in their Holiday attire for a social time before lunch. Following the lunch, the current captain, Margo Dutton, greeted all the members new and old. Denise Pratt welcomed everyone present and recognized all the past captains in attendance. Margo Dutton, presented a thank you greeting for a fabulous 2023 season and recognized the major tournament winners of the season; Claudia Terry, Club Champion and Jane Lee, Handicap Champion for the year.
Denise Pratt, outgoing Tournament Chair, recognized some of the event winners during the year as well as Agnes Shin who won the Charm Girl award. Laura Kim, the outgoing Handicap Chair, awarded the Most Improved Player for the year award to Theresa Kim.
Margo Dutton, outgoing captain, went on to introduce the 2024 board and turn the gavel over to Toni Snyder who will be the club captain for 2024.
Lauralee Barbaria an 18er and upcoming 9er co-captain was also very appreciative of the Toys for Tots collected by the 18er ladies.
The 18ers supported 20 Thursday Playdays, 3 guest days, 6 special events and 3 major tournaments with over 1,960 golfers participating in these events for the 2023 season. During the 2023 season over $5,100 in prize money was awarded and $7,100 was donated to charities.
The gathering ended with a fun singing of holiday cheer songs lead by Gayl Westendorf and George Dort, Jolly Bartenders and members of the Ashmolean Singers.
