Women’s 18ers enjoy sunny weather for first round of season
The Rossmoor Women’s 18ers Golf Club had their first official play day of the season on Thursday, March 2nd when 23 intrepid golfers braved the saturated golf course conditions to get together and play their first round of golf in quite a while. Not all of those who began the round finished as the course was too wet and muddy for some players’ tastes. Many balls were lost in the tall grass which has not been mowed much lately due to the recent rainy weather.
The format was a “Terrible Twos” game where players were allowed to subtract their two worst holes from their scorecard and count the remaining 16 holes as their score. After subtracting their handicaps for a net score the winners were: First Flight: Chong Harney 1st place with net 57; Joyce McCann 2nd place with net 63. Second Flight: Agnes Shin 1st place with net 50; Olivia Hsueh 2nd place with net 55; Anna Kim 3rd place with net 60. Third Flight: Teddi Swanson 1st place with net 55; Mo Mobberley 2nd place with net 61; Linda Pritchett 3rd place with net 63.
Agnes Shin and Chong Harney had birdies on Hole 10, and Olivia Hsueh had a birdie on Hole 4.
The 18ers will have their first Guest Day on April 27th so 18ers are encouraged to invite some friends from other golf clubs to play Rossmoor’s beautiful Stanley Dollar course. For more information about Guest Day, contact Robin Moreau at ramoreau2@gmail.com or Bari Mantel at barimantel@comcast.net.
