The Rossmoor Women’s 18-Hole Golf Club is preparing for the 2024 season with its annual Launch Party on Thursday, Feb. 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the Event Center. 18ers Captain Toni Snyder and Margo Dutton are chairing the event, and the food committee is comprised of Lana Yagle, Stella Chan, MaryHelen Greaves, Donna Wagner and 11 more volunteers.
This year’s event will feature a theme, Year of the Dragon, as the date of the launch falls shortly before the Chinese New Year. The cost of attending is $30, and a buffet lunch catered by Yan’s Chinese Bistro is included along with beer, wine, nonalcoholic drinks and custom made fortune cookies as well as almond cookies for dessert. The annual launch is a chance for returning members to meet new members and for all 18ers to rekindle friendships with those they may not have seen during the inhospitable months of the offseason.
Information will be available on Open Days, East Bay Team Play and Golf Genius. Joyce McCann, 18ers Rules Chair, will be offering a fun quiz for participants to test themselves on the rules of golf. Interested members who haven’t done so already can sign up for Birdies and/or Eclectic at $5 each, which are optional, and can sign up and pay for optional Hole-in-One insurance, also $5. Women’s 18-Hole Golf Club directories will be for sale for $2 for anyone wanting a hard copy of the 2024 membership contact info.
The first general meeting of the year will also be held, and the new board members will be announced. New members to the club will also be introduced. Members planning to attend should sign up on Golf Genius before Thursday, Jan. 25, at 5 p.m. There will be no refunds after that point.
