October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a month to increase awareness and provide support for all those affected by breast cancer. The Rossmoor Women 18ers Golf Club is sponsoring a fundraiser for the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation. HERS, which stands for Hope, Empowerment, Renewal and Support, is a local organization supporting all individuals healing from breast cancer by providing post-surgical products and services regardless of financial status.
There are numerous organizations benefitting research and treatments for Breast Cancer which we are all aware of. However, the HERS organization targets a previously neglected area of Breast Cancer recovery. For those women who have undergone the disfiguring mastectomy and chemotherapy, self-image can become a crisis. This is where HERS plays a major role. Their goal is to provide prosthetics, compression devices for lymphedema, wigs and emotional support so that women may continue to be the wives, mothers and breadwinners they want to be.
The Rossmoor 18ers fundraiser will run through the entire month of October. Donations may be made using a credit card at the following website: https://bca.golfgenius.com. Checks are also accepted, should be made out to HERS Breast Cancer Foundation, and sent to Rossmoor Women 18ers Golf Club, 1010 Stanley Dollar Drive, WC 94595 or dropped off at the Rossmoor Golf Shop.
