2023 Rossmoor Men’s Golf Club Match Play Championship
The 2023 Rossmoor Men’s Golf Club match play championship was completed on Saturday, October 21, 2023. The event was held over 3 days with a championship flight and four net flights.
The championship flight was played from the blue tees, with no “Rossmoor bump” and all contestants playing at scratch handicap. The net flight competition was held from the white tees, with no “Rossmoor bump” with handicap strokes allocated per USGA rules.
The championship flight pitted last years’ champion, Chris Tallon against Daryl Matthews (left). In a very exciting and close match Daryl defeated Chris on 18 to win the contest 1 up. Daryl will get his name added to the trophy in the trophy case just outside the pro shop.
In Flight #1 of the net flight championship Chuck Leong defeated Steve Zell by a score of 2 and 1.
In Flight #2, James Soo Hoo and Matt Dunn have not yet completed their match as both players are traveling. They hope to complete the match in the next week or so.
In Flight #3, Bryan Burnett (left) defeated James Brophy by default as John had to withdraw from the final match.
In Flight #4, Simon Park defeated Bill Leckonby by a score of 7 and 6.
