Golfers and non-golfers alike from Rossmoor took the annual ILT trek down to Mexico to escape the inclement weather at home and enjoy some warmer, dryer conditions for playing golf and enjoying the Mexican sunshine at the Villa La Valencia Luxury Oceanfront Beach Resort in Los Cabos. The travelers departed on Wednesday, Feb 22, and returned to Rossmoor Mar 1.

For the first time ever since Rossmoor began participating in ILT Mexico trips, one of the golfers shot a hole-in-one. Rossmoor Women’s 18er Theresa Kim and her husband Peter Kim, along with their friends, who were visiting from Seoul, Korea, Il Kyun (John) and Huichong (Catarina) Yim, played together as a foursome on the first golf outing at Cabo Real Golf Course on Feb 24 where Il Kyun sank his 147-yard tee shot using a 7 iron on the third hole. Cabo Real Golf Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. so that every hole has vistas of the sea. Congratulations to Mr. Il Kyun Yim.

The game format that first day was two best ball and the first-place winners were 18er Laura Kim and her husband Gayl Westendorf, and 18er Sunhi Kim and her husband Tom Huster. Second place went to two other 18ers and their spouses, Daisy and James Soo Hoo, and Laura and Rob Ingalls.

The other courses played were Solmar Golf Links, designed by Greg Norman, and Cabo Del Sol’s Desert Course, designed by Tom Weiskopf. The female low net winner at Cabo Del Sol was 18er Toni Snyder, and second place went to Laura Kim.

Sunhi Kim shot the longest drive on the first two outings and Theresa Kim shot longest drive at the Cabo Del Sol course.
