18ers gathered together in the Event Center on Thursday, February 21 to launch the 2019 golf season.  Members were excited to socialize with old friends and meet new members.  Sign-up sheets were set up for Birdies, Eclectic Tournament, and East Bay Team Play.  New 2019 USGA rules books and membership directories were distributed to members. Delicious sandwiches were catered by Morucci’s Deli.
Captain Denise Pratt welcomed the group.  She introduced new members that attended the event:  Laura Kim, Ja Young Kim and Patty Frazer.  Denise also introduced the new board and chairpersons.  Refer to the 2019 membership directory for board and chairperson names.  She announced that Brent Mulanax, golf pro, will be handling the 18ers Thursday games.
Teddi Swanson, Tournament Chair, gave a brief summary of Thursday check-in procedures.  Sign-up sheets for Thursday games are available in advance in the pro shop.  On play day, all players must sign in with her by 8:00 a.m for the 8:30 shotgun start.  Members should finish the round by 1:00.  Players should call the pro shop if they are finished close to 1:00 but cannot physically return to pro shop in time.  Swanson needs volunteers for sign-in assistance and has a sign-up sheet in the pro shop.
Theresa Kim, Co-Captain, will be assisting Swanson with the Eclectic outings and Birdies.  Theresa explained there that will be cards made up for players participating in Eclectic event.  Only post scores for holes that are lower than the previous scorecard.  There will be six Eclectic outings for the year.  Players can post their birdies on Thursday play in Birdie binder in pro shop and team play event at Rossmoor only.  Eclectic and Birdie awards are presented to members at the December annual holiday party.

Claudia Terry, Handicap and Website Chair, informed the group that golf scores should be posted on the day of play and use correct date for play.   Terry asked players to review sample scorecards for Thursday club outings.  Each player is required to have an individual scorecard with a marker to attest player’s score.  Refer to the club’s website, www.rossmoorgolf.com, 18ers tab for up to date news, tournament results, event calendar and an array of information.
