September 15-17 was the 54-hole stroke play competition at Del Rio Country Club, Turlock Golf & Country Club and Spring Creek Golf and Country club. This is a WGANC (Women’s Golf Association of Northern California) 54-hole stroke play championship with participants from all of northern California. 70 participants played in the 3-day stroke play and overall low net competition. Sally won first in Flight A with a 223 net score.
October 20-22 was the 84th annual WGANC Match Play Championship. 44 participants competed at
El Macero Country Club in Davis, CA. Sally won on the 19th hole in the second flight to become champion. The top winner was Lynne Cowan of Sierra View Country Club with Eden Anderson of Claremont Country Club as runner up in the championship flight. Sally is not new to this competition as she won the overall Match Play Championship in 1985 and 1989.

October 11 and 12 was the NorCal Cup at Carmel Valley Ranch. This competition is where the WGANC Northern Team (6 members) and the Pacific Women’s Golf Association (PWGA) Team (6 members) compete in a Ryder Cup format against a team of PGA women teaching professionals from clubs in Northern California. This is the first time in 3 years the amateurs won overwhelmingly with a score of 12-6. Sally was one of the 6 WGANC ladies.
A WGANC member becomes a player on the Northern Team by earning points for outstanding tournament play in the WGANC Stroke Play Championship, WGANC Match Play Championship, WGANC Champion of Champions and California Women’s Championship. To become a player on the team, a player receiving points must play in at least 2 of these events.

We congratulate Sally for her winning accomplishments.
