Nancy Park continued her winning streak with a triumph at the Charm Day playoff, last Thursday, November 3. Six hopeful women, winners in the individual qualifying rounds, went to battle on that cold November morning. Nancy’s net score of 73, was good enough to beat Del Poirier by two strokes, who became the runner-up. She also beat Jane Lee, Jayoung Lee, Jacky Dunn and Joanne Kim, each of whom won a  “charm” in competitions over this past year. Nancy will be awarded the title of Charm Champion and receive a cash award.

The final day of official club tournaments is November 17, after which time, those wishing to play will be making their own foursomes. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and allow the women to keep up their game and take advantage of the various golf clinics and lessons available from the Pro Shop.

October was breast cancer awareness month, and in recognition, the women 18ers held a golf tournament to raise funds for HERS. HERS is an organization that provides support and products to low-income persons dealing with the ravages of breast cancer treatment. Thanks to the generosity and support of the Rossmoor golf community, the 18ers raised and donated $1500.00 to HERS and the club received a heartfelt thank you from the organization.

Everyone is reminded to get their festive wear out of the closet and signup for the annual Holiday party, to be held on Wednesday, November 7 in the Event Center. This year the event will feature a medley of hearty appetizers to enjoy with a beverage, while mingling with others. The club has grown with the addition of  twenty-four new members so this a great opportunity to get to know and to welcome our new friends. Captain Daisy Soo Hoo will be honored for her service as she hands the gavel over to Margo Dutton, incoming Captain. There will be brief presentations including an announcement revealing the much-anticipated, Most Improved Player. Register for this gala event on the 18ers website and reserve your place before it’s too late to have a “Holly-Jolly Good Time”.
