The three-day 18ers Handicap Tournament begins on May 18th and continues on the 23rd and 25th. This annual event is one of the major 18er events of the year and the winner gets bragging rights forever after.
The format this year will be varied from previous years’ events. The first two days will be stroke play using full handicaps. The two competitors with the lowest cumulative two-day net scores will play a single match on Thursday, May 25, to determine the champion and runner-up. Competitors with the next two lowest net cumulative scores will play a single match to determine third and fourth place. The remainder of the field will play single matches (Match Play) for consolation awards. The pro shop will set up consolation matches according to the previous two days’ net scores.
Day one will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Day two, Tuesday, will be tee times. Day three will be tee times for champion and runner-up, and third and fourth place competitors. The remainder of the field will shotgun at 8:30 a.m. In the event of a tie, opponents in the championship match will continue play until a winner is decided. The others will remain tied.
An awards luncheon will follow play in the Dollar House. Sign up in the Pro Shop and place a check for $15.00 in the 18er’s drawer to cover lunch. Make check out to Rossmoor Women’s 18er’s. The last day for signing up is Thursday, May 11.
